Hawaiian Galapagos Sharks
It's estimated that around 95% of the sharks that you see on Hawaii Shark Tours are Galapagos Sharks. These sharks exists globally and are part of the Requiem shark type of species. They have a tendency to live around clear coral reef types of settings, which are found all around the Hawaiian Islands. Often a school of these sharks can number in the hundreds. Some of the other locations they live at are the Atlantic Ocean, Bermuda, the Virgin Islands, Lord Howe Island, the Marianas Islands, Baja California, Guatemala, eastern Australia and more.
They are somewhat large in size, generally around 9.8 feet. Although they have actually been known to get larger than 11 feet.... At that size, they generally tip the scales at over 400 pounds.
